Under Graduate Course Work

The University awards the Bachelor of Science degree with a major in mathematics to the student who completes the curriculum listed below. The curriculum provides a sufficient number of electives to enable the student to concentrate his or her studies in pure mathematics or applied mathematics. The minor in mathematics consists of a minimum of nine semester hours of credit in courses approved by the head of the Mathematics Department numbered above Mathematics 265.

General Education Requirements

English 101, 102, 251 or 252 or 255 or 256 and English elective

Mathematics (6 semester hours beginning with Mathematics 165)

Natural Science electives (10 semester hours from physical and biological sciences including a two-semester sequence and one laboratory course)
